PLEASE HELP! IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN DOWNLOAD THIS FOR WINDOWS? I HAVE WINDOWS VISTA AND DON”T WANT TO CHANGE THAT, I JUST ANT THE INTERFACE TO LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THIS.
Yeah you can install it on windows, first you need to get a couple of things:
VMware
An Ubuntu image
You install the VMware application, then you use the image to install Ubuntu on the VMware application…
There should be some tutorials on how to do that online.
After you’ve done that you download this theme, in the VMware Ubuntu you install the theme…
Next comes the tricky part, I can’t really explain it so you should follow this tutorial: http://www.dafk.net/what/
FOR THE ‘VERY VERY STUPID’:
THIS IS A SITE FOR UBUNTU THEMES, WHICH RUN ON LINUX, A TOTALLY DIFFERENT OPERATING SYSTEM FROM WINDOWS. SO GOOD LUCK ON MAKING THIS WORK ON VISTA, ON WINDOWS FOR THAT MATTER.
yeah hi i know this a noobish question but do you need any theme installer / theme mannager with Ubuntu to apply themes? broke my silly windows 7 and decided to go to linux
How sad are all you really intelligent men making stupid, sexist comments about a newbie? You who know everything there is to know about everything and love being superior is that it? A**holes like you give IT a bad name. Grow up.
Ariane, you make no sense.. I get that you’re standing up for Brittany and all.. but I don’t see ANY sexist jokes… Just a few blonde jokes and everyone calling her stupid.. Also, quit trying to sound all ‘intellectual’ by wording your paragraphs in sentences in complex ways, it’s sickening….
I find it funny that instead of just educating someone who clearly is ignorant of different operating systems most everyone here just flamed away. Then when Ariane (also flaming) uses proper writing to respond she/he gets flamed for that. In other words the ignorant and the intelligent get flamed. FYI for the high and mighty around here blonde joke are sexist. Now the real answer for Brittany is these themes are for nix only and will not work in windows. Oh no, another well written response, guess I’ll be getting flamed for this as well.
Brittany, While the Ambiance theme is for Gnome, and usually native for GNU/Linux, (or any Unix, really) something you should check out is Litestep. It’s a GUI that works with XP, with different buttons and menus, etc.. which are very customizable with many different themes. While they were made for XP, I’ve heard recently that a couple themes work on Vista. It can be found at http://litestep.net/
what’s funnier to me is that none of you morons can read. She knows that this theme isn’t for windows and was asking if there was any way to make it work with windows. herp a derp
@Brittany,
For those using Windows whom want to change the look and feel of the user interface lookup WINCUSTOMIZE. They have a product called `windows blinds`. Also, I used to have SkinXP wayyyy back in the day. Another great site is stardock. There’s another method which involves a patched uxtheme.dll which allows using themes without additional software.
From winmatrix: “By patching this DLL, you can install all third party visual styles (.msstyles) that are not digitally signed. ”
THANKS FOR ALL THE RESPONSE PPL EXCEPT THE JERKS YOU SUCK :S I GOT TO WORK ON WINDOWS WITH THIS TUTORAL. ITS TRICKY BUT ONLY TOOK ME A LIKE FIVTEEN MINUTES. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_zvEm1KyQ8c

sorry if i’m a noob, but how do you install the .theme file?
I would go for the first hypothesis, which assume that Brittany is a very smart troll.
